Medical nutrition therapy
Medical nutrition therapy utilizes dietary intervention to treat medical conditions and their associated symptoms. Conditions include but are not limited to, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal conditions, renal insufficiency and food allergies.
OUtCOMES
Medical nutrition therapy can improve overall quality of life by managing symptoms of pre-existing conditions, decreasing hospitalizations, decreasing medications and improving overall health and wellbeing.
interdisciplinary approach
Teamwork is critical. If problems are identified outside the dietitian's scope of practice, referrals will be made to appropriate disciplines as needed.
